5-WEEK PERCUSSION SALSA

Learn to play the key percussion instruments that shape salsa.

This multi-level Salsa Percussion Course is open to everyone, whether you have no musical experience, you already play percussion and want to deepen your understanding of salsa rhythms, you’re a dancer looking to become more musical, or you simply love salsa music and want to explore this side of it (you don’t need to dance to join).

You’ll learn the fundamentals of the core instruments that form the foundation of salsa: timbales, congas, bongó, clave, maracas, and campana. We’ll guide complete beginners step by step, while also offering extra layers, variations and challenges for those who already play, so everyone stays engaged and progresses at their level. You’ll learn what each instrument is doing, how they fit together, and how to recognise them clearly in real salsa songs.

No instruments are required, everything will be provided. If you have your own instrument, please bring it.

If you are a dancer, learning how these instruments work together will train your ear, improve your timing, and help you catch breaks and changes in the music with way more confidence on the dancefloor. If you’re not a dancer, you’ll still get loads from the course: you’ll understand the structure of salsa music, develop solid rhythmic skills, and enjoy learning a new musical language in a fun, social setting.
